Equitech project

The Centre of Engineering Excellence (CEE) is working with a group of forward-thinking business people related to the equestrian sector whom have realised the need for change and innovation within the industry.
The member organisations include:

o Centre of Engineering Excellence

o Advantage West Midlands

o British Equestrian Trade Association

o Walsall Equestrian Society

The aims of the Equitech project:

o To identify common technology needs within the industry

o Utilise technology to enhance the skills in the craft industry

o Aim to introduce new high value added products and processes

o Increase awareness of the industry to attract school leavers intot he industry


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ahievements so far

o A current technology audit of the equestrian industry was carried out - its finding showed that some processes have not evolved for over 200yrs

o A ‘technical enquiry service’ is underway that will offer links to other technology centres and services including:

- Measurement studies

- Saddletrees reverse engineering

- Girth strap testing

- Adjustable saddles
